Opener Mominul Haque scored an unbeaten 175 runs to put Bangladesh on top on the first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Chittagong on Wednesday.
Mushfiqur Rahim added 92 as the Tigers reached 374-4 at stumps after electing to bat first at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Mominul and Mushfiq shared 236 runs for the third wicket stand before Suranga Lakmal took two wickets off successive balls to give Sri Lanka some respite.
Lakmal forced Mushfiq to give an edge behind the stumps with the second new ball after the batsman faced 192 balls and stuck 10 fours.
He bowled Liton Das off the next ball, which took a late swing to uproot the off-stump as the batsman attempted to leave it.
Mominul was dominant on the other side brining his fifth Test century off just 96 balls with back-to-back fours of Left-arm chinaman Lakshan Sandakan.
Bangladesh earlier lost both openers Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes in the morning session as both of them wasted a fine start.
Tamim scored 52 off 53 balls and shared 72-run in the opening stand with Imrul Kayes, who made 40.
Off-spinner Dilruwan Perera bowled Tamim with a beautiful delivery that pitched outside the off-stump and spun sharply to clip off the bails.
Tamim struck six fours and a six off Perera over long-on in his 25th Test fifty.
Sandakan trapped Kayes leg-before on the stroke of lunch.
Bangladesh, who are without injured all-rounder Sakib al Hasan, handed left-arm spinner Sunzumul Islam his Test debut but left out veteran Razzak, who was recalled to the squad after four years.
